IKO Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If your IKO driveway or paver surface is cracked, sinking, or separating at the joints, we stock and install IKO-compatible pavers and driveway materials across Orlando for $7,000 to $18,000 on a full paver driveway installation, with most replacements done within 5 to 7 working days. The most common call we get starts the same way: a homeowner notices one section of pavers has dipped below the rest, water pools after a storm, or a corner paver has cracked clean through and now rocks underfoot. You’re not just looking at a cosmetic issue at that point. A failing IKO paver base usually means the sand or aggregate underneath has washed out, and Orlando’s wet season will keep making it worse until the base is rebuilt.

Sawyer Remodel Orlando is an independent contractor. We are not affiliated with IKO, but we work with their paver and driveway product lines regularly and know which base failures are product-related and which are installation-related. That distinction matters because it changes the fix.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s paver and driveway systems in Florida run through a few product families, and the compatibility question matters more than most people expect. The three we see most in Orlando are the IKO Cambridge paver line, the IKO Nordic Cobble series, and IKO’s ArmorStone driveway pavers. Cambridge pavers use a 4-by-8-inch dimensional stone module with a beveled top edge, while Nordic Cobble is a larger-format paver meant for wider driveways and runs 6-by-9-inches with a tumbled finish. ArmorStone is the heavy-duty line, thicker than the pedestrian pavers, and engineered for vehicle loads.

Here’s what trips people up: Cambridge and Nordic Cobble pavers are not interchangeable across the same base. The profiles differ enough that you’ll see visible lippage at the transition if you try to mix them. If your existing driveway is an older IKO install, check the underside of a loose paver for the stamped product code before ordering anything. The code tells you the series and the production run, and matching the production run matters because color blends shift year to year. Aftermarket equivalents exist and we do use them when the original run is discontinued, but for IKO-specific installs we always quote OEM or color-matched aftermarket pavers side by side so you can see the real price difference before committing.

For an Orlando-specific reality: IKO ArmorStone pavers in direct sun hold up well, but the base underneath is where we see most failures. Central Florida soil has a high sand content and drains fast right up until it doesn’t, and then you get differential settlement. That’s a base problem, not a paver problem, and it’s the number one reason an IKO driveway looks warped within five to eight years.

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Low spots or sunken sections. A section of the IKO paver field sits visibly lower than the rest, usually where a car tire tracks or where a downspout discharges. The base under that section has either washed out or was never compacted to spec, and every rain event makes the void bigger.
  • Cracked or split pavers under vehicle load. One or two cracked IKO pavers in the wheel path is normal wear, but a spreading pattern of cracks means the pavers are flexing because the base has failed. Pavers don’t flex on their own; they break when something under them gives way.
  • Joint sand is gone and weeds are taking over. Once the sand between IKO pavers washes out, the pavers lose lateral support and start shifting. Weeds in the joints are a symptom, not the disease, and simple re-sanding without addressing drainage just postpones the repair.
  • Water pooling instead of draining. A paver driveway built right has a slight slope. If water stands in one spot for hours after a storm, the slope has changed, usually from settlement. In Orlando afternoons with daily thunderstorms, standing water on a paver driveway means the base is absorbing far more water than it should.
  • Edging that’s pulling away from the paver field. The plastic or aluminum edge restraint along the driveway border should sit tight against the outer row of IKO pavers. If it has opened up a half inch or more, the pavers have shifted outward and the entire edge is working loose.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled primary suite with built-in wardrobes and a window seat

In Orlando, a full IKO-compatible paver driveway replacement runs $7,000 to $18,000 installed, depending on the driveway’s square footage, the current state of the base, and whether you choose the Cambridge, Nordic Cobble, or ArmorStone line. A straight paver repair, meaning we pull and re-set a section and rebuild the base only where it failed, typically falls between $1,200 and $4,000. What drives the range is the base. If the original install skimped on the aggregate depth and the whole driveway is moving, a repair won’t hold, and you’re looking at the full replacement number.

Every quote from us includes the paver material, the base excavation and rebuild, edge restraint, joint sand, and haul-off of the old material. We put the price in writing before any work starts, and that number is the number on the invoice. No surprises, no change orders mid-job.

If you’re weighing repair versus replacement, here’s the honest math: a repair that only addresses the visible damage on a failing base lasts 18 to 24 months before the next section goes. A full base rebuild under the existing IKO pavers, when the pavers themselves are still sound, can add 10 to 15 years. We’ll tell you which one you’re actually looking at, not which one makes us more money.

DIY or Call Us?

There are exactly two things worth checking yourself before you call. Pull a loose paver and check the depth of the base underneath: if you see less than 4 inches of compacted aggregate, that’s the problem, and no amount of re-sanding on top will fix it. And check your downspout discharge points, because water dumping directly onto the paver edge is a common culprit for the washout that started the whole thing.

What we’d tell you not to do is try to re-set a full sunken section yourself. Leveling a paver field properly means pulling enough of the field back to rebuild the base with proper compaction, re-screeding the bedding sand, and re-setting the pavers to the original slope. Do it wrong and the repaired section sits proud of the rest of the driveway, and now you have a trip hazard plus the same base problem underneath. If the section that’s failed is more than a few pavers wide, call us at (850) 809-0306. We’ll give you a straight read on whether it’s a repair or a rebuild.
