CGI Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
CGI driveway and paver systems are built to handle Florida sun, but the components around them, edge restraints, sand bedding, sealers, and the pavers themselves, do wear out. In Orlando, you’ll typically pay $7,000 – $18,000 for a full paver driveway installation and $3,500 – $11,000 for a paver patio, with repairs to failing sections running lower depending on how much surface area is involved. We stock common replacement pavers, edge restraints, polymeric sand, and sealers on our trucks, and our crew can match most CGI paver profiles the same day we assess the job.
Most Orlando homeowners discover the problem after a heavy afternoon thunderstorm. Water pools in a low spot that wasn’t there six months ago, or pavers start rocking underfoot near the garage apron. Sometimes the edge restraint has pulled loose and the whole border is drifting toward the lawn. The pavers themselves rarely fail first. What fails is what holds them: the base, the sand, the edge, and the sealer. That’s the good news, because those are repairable without tearing out the entire driveway.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI products show up across Central Florida driveways, patios, pool decks, and walkways under a few different product families. The paver lines we see most often include their concrete interlocking pavers, often sold in 60mm and 80mm thicknesses for residential driveway use, plus their slab-style pavers for patios. If you’re unsure what you have, check the underside of a loose paver for a stamped mold number or manufacturer mark. You can also measure the paver: residential CGI pavers typically run 60mm thick for patios and walkways, while driveway-rated units are 80mm thick to handle vehicle weight.
One Orlando-specific gotcha: some builders installed 60mm pavers on driveways to save cost, and Florida’s sandy, shifting soil plus daily vehicle traffic causes those to sink and crack faster than the 80mm units rated for the load. If your pavers are sinking in tire tracks, that’s usually the story. We’ll tell you straight whether your existing pavers are worth saving or whether a partial replacement makes more sense.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for CGI specifically: there are quality aftermarket paver manufacturers whose color blends match common CGI tones closely, but exact color match on an existing installation is never guaranteed. Florida UV breaks down the pigment in concrete pavers over time, so even a factory-fresh OEM paver from the same mold will look different from one that’s been in the sun for eight years. We carry a range of replacement options and will show you physical samples against your existing surface before we quote.

Signs Your CGI Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Rocking or shifting pavers underfoot. The sand bedding has eroded or washed out beneath the pavers, which means water is getting under the surface and moving material around. Left alone, the pavers will start to crack at the edges from the movement.
- Water pooling in one spot after rain. Your base has settled or a low spot has developed, usually because the original compaction wasn’t right or a downspout is dumping water in one place. Orlando’s afternoon storms will make this obvious fast.
- Edge restraints pulling away from the border. The plastic or aluminum edging that holds the outside rows in place has failed or been knocked loose by a mower or vehicle. Once the edge goes, the pavers follow.
- Faded, chalky surface with weeds growing between joints. The sealer has broken down and polymeric sand has washed out of the joints. Weeds are a symptom, not the problem; the real issue is that water and UV have opened the surface up.
- Cracked or chipped pavers, especially in the tire tracks. This usually means the pavers are too thin for driveway use, or the base has failed and the pavers are flexing under load. Concrete pavers don’t flex, so a crack means something underneath gave way.
One thing we see regularly in Orlando neighborhoods like College Park and Winter Park: older paver driveways where tree roots from mature oaks have pushed up the base. Holding a level across the surface shows a visible hump, and no amount of paver replacement fixes it until the root is addressed and the base is rebuilt.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what you’re looking at in the Orlando market, depending on scope:
- Full paver driveway installation: $7,000 – $18,000
- Paver patio installation: $3,500 – $11,000
- Partial paver repair or section rebuild: $1,500 – $5,000 depending on square footage and base condition
- Re-sanding and joint stabilization: $400 – $1,200
- Sealing a paver driveway or patio: $0.75 – $1.50 per square foot
The spread comes down to square footage, whether we’re pulling up and reusing existing pavers or installing new ones, and how much base work the job needs. If the old base was poorly compacted, we’re excavating and rebuilding it before a single paver goes back down. If the base is solid and the pavers are just loose or edged badly, the job is faster and cheaper. You’ll get a written line-item quote before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number you pay. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every repair and installation: if it’s not done right, we make it right, in writing.

Replacing a single cracked paver or sweeping new polymeric sand into the joints are both manageable for a careful homeowner, and we won’t talk you out of saving a few hundred dollars if the rest of the surface is solid. The moment you’re digging into the base, you’re past the weekend project stage. Orlando’s soil is sandy, and it moves. Rebuilding a failed base means excavation, proper compaction in lifts, and getting the pitch right so water drains away from the house. Get it wrong and you’ll be back out there next rainy season staring at the same low spot.
Edge restraint work is the other common DIY half-fix. If the edge fails and you just hammer it back in without re-compacting the sand behind it, it’ll fail again within months. Heavy-edge jobs need the pavers lifted along the border and reset properly. That’s the kind of work we do on a regular basis, and it’s the difference between a repair that lasts a season and one that lasts a decade.

FAQs

Properly installed 80mm driveway pavers on a well-compacted base typically last 25 – 30 years in Central Florida before the surface itself needs significant work, though you’ll likely re-sand and re-seal every 3 – 5 years to keep them looking right. The base is the bigger variable: a poorly compacted base fails in 5 – 10 years regardless of what’s on top. Call (850) 809-0306 if you want us to check your base before you invest in surface work.
Yes, if the sinking is isolated to one area, we can lift the affected pavers, rebuild the base underneath, and reset them so the surface matches the surrounding grade. You’ll see a slight color difference between the reset pavers and the surrounding ones, but structurally the repair is sound. If the sink is widespread or the base was never properly installed, a full rebuild makes more sense.
A small section repair, lifting and rebuilding an area of 100 square feet or less, is typically done in one day. A full driveway rebuild runs three to five working days from excavation to final compaction and sanding. Weather is the wild card in Orlando; we schedule around the afternoon storm pattern when we can.
We stock common replacement profiles and keep a range of color blends on hand, but we’ll always show you a physical sample against your existing pavers before quoting so you know exactly what the match looks like. Florida sun fades concrete over time, so even the same mold and color lot won’t be a perfect match on an older installation. For bigger repairs, we can order to your measurements.
