Tuff Shed Bathroom Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We handle Tuff Shed bathroom conversions and remodels across Orlando, with most full builds landing between $9,000 and $28,000 depending on size, plumbing scope, and finish level. If you’ve got a Tuff Shed on your property and you’re ready to turn part of it into a working bathroom, we can usually get started within a week or two of your free estimate.
Most Orlando owners come to us when they realize the shed has the footprint for a bathroom but not the plumbing, waterproofing, or ventilation to make it work. Maybe you bought the shed thinking you’d DIY it, and now the wall framing is up and you’re staring at a PEX diagram on your phone. Or maybe a previous “handyman” roughed in a toilet and now the subfloor is soft around the flange. Either way, the fix starts with knowing exactly what your Tuff Shed can support and what it can’t.
Which Tuff Shed Models This Applies To

Tuff Shed builds in two main lines: the Premier PRO series (stick-built, 2×4 studs, more customizable) and the Sundance series (panelized, truss-roofed, tighter tolerances on wall modules). We work on both, but they remodel differently. A Premier PRO gives you true dimensional framing that’s easy to open up for supply lines and vent stacks. A Sundance unit has prefabricated wall panels with less room to fish plumbing, which means we plan drain locations before we touch a saw.
How to confirm what you have: check the order documentation from Tuff Shed, or measure the wall thickness. Premier PRO walls run a true 3.5 inches of stud depth. Sundance panels typically come in at 2.5 to 3 inches, which matters when you’re sizing a vanity drain or running a vent line up an exterior wall. The biggest compatibility gotcha we see in Orlando is floor load: a standard Tuff Shed floor is rated for storage, not for a cast iron tub full of water. If you want a soaker tub, we’re reinforcing the floor joists and the under-floor blocking first. Skip that step and you’ll feel the bounce every time you step in.

Signs Your Tuff Shed Bathroom Remodel Is Failing
- Soft spots around the toilet flange. This is the classic Florida humidity failure. Condensation and slow leaks work into the subfloor, and Tuff Shed’s factory subfloor is not treated for constant moisture exposure. By the time the vinyl feels spongy, the flange is moving and the wax ring has failed.
- Mold smell you can’t locate. Shed bathrooms trap moisture because they lack the continuous HVAC airflow a house has. If the exhaust fan is undersized or vented into the wall cavity instead of outside, you’ll get mildew inside the wall within a year or two in Orlando’s climate.
- Doors and windows no longer square. Three things cause this in a Tuff Shed remodel: floor joists settling under added weight, wall studs deflecting from plumbing notches cut too deep, or humidity swelling the framing. Inspect the notches first. You can often see the problem from inside the wall cavity.
- Low water pressure at the new fixtures. Most Tuff Sheds were never plumbed for a bathroom at the factory, which means someone ran supply lines off an undersized garden line or a 3/8-inch branch. A real bathroom needs a 3/4-inch main feeding 1/2-inch branches, minimum.
- Condensation dripping from windows or the ceiling seam. Florida heat meeting a cool, interior shower means condensation fast. If the shed bath wasn’t insulated and vapor-barriered correctly, you’ll see water collecting on the ceiling panel joints, and the screws will start rusting.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Orlando specifically, full Tuff Shed bathroom remodels run $9,000 to $28,000. A smaller job, like adding a half bath to a Premier PRO with existing electrical nearby, lands on the low end. A full bath with a tiled walk-in shower, new subfloor, reinforcement, and upgraded ventilation easily pushes past $20,000. The price includes the full scope: framing reinforcement, plumbing rough-in, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, lighting, ventilation, finish trim, and haul-away.
Here’s the line-item breakdown for a mid-range Orlando job, which is the number we quote most often:
- Plumbing rough-in (supply, drain, vent): $3,200 to $6,800
- Floor reinforcement and subfloor replacement: $1,200 to $3,000
- Tiled walk-in shower with waterproofing: $4,500 to $9,500
- Vanity, toilet, and fixtures: $800 to $3,000
- Ventilation, insulation, and drywall: $600 to $1,800
Every quote is a written price before work starts. The number on the invoice is the number you approved. If a drain line hits a surprise underneath the slab, you’ll get a line-item change order in writing before we touch it. That’s the way Luca has run this crew since day one, and it’s the only way we know how to work.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things an owner can check safely: look under the shed for signs of standing water or floor joist sag, test every joint and supply line for drips, and pull the exhaust fan cover to see if the duct actually vents outside. Those are diagnostic steps, and knowing what you’re dealing with before calling us helps the estimate.
But once you’re moving drain lines, cutting into load-bearing wall plates, or pulling up subfloor, that’s not a weekend project. We’ve rebuilt three Orlando shed bathrooms in the last year where the DIY route failed: a vent stack run into an eave, a shower pan with no waterproofing membrane behind the tile, and a floor that sagged half an inch in six months because nobody doubled the joists. The city of Orlando requires permits for plumbing and structural changes to an accessory building, and the inspector will flag unpermitted work. Call us at (850) 809-0306 before you’re too deep into it.
FAQs

With proper waterproofing, ventilation, and floor reinforcement, expect 20 to 30 years from the structure, and 10 to 15 years from caulk, grout, and fixture seals before they need refreshing. Without those three things, you can see failures in under two years in Florida’s heat and humidity. Call (850) 809-0306 and we’ll tell you honestly where your shed bathroom stands.
Yes, if the failure is localized: a failed wax ring, a cracked shower pan replacement, new exhaust fan routing, or subfloor patch around the toilet. If the problem is structural or the waterproofing was never done right, a repair will keep failing. We’ll inspect and tell you which path you’re on before any money changes hands.
A half bath takes us 3 to 5 working days. A full bath with tile, reinforcement, and new fixtures runs 2 to 3 weeks. Permitting through the City of Orlando can add a few days to the front end, depending on inspector availability. You’ll see the schedule in your written quote.
We stock the common failure points on our trucks: toilet flanges, PEX fittings, vent boots, shower valves, pan liners, and exhaust duct connectors. For finish fixtures, we install what you pick from our partner lines, including Kohler and Moen, plus vanities and cabinetry from KraftMaid, and countertops from Cambria and Silestone. What we don’t stock, we order and have on site before the day we need it.
